The calculator has 4 steps: 1: Course Length 2: Development Time 3: Development Cost 4: Summary The operator can enter different variables to determine cost outputs and time demands for the instructional program project. The only problem is it uses its own ratio of development time per minute of instructional time provided. These numbers are quite large and increase cost estimates. The value of the calculator is not to use the calculator for an actual project but a way to stop people from thinking for each hour of instruction provided only one hour of development time or 2 is needed. There is no perfect ratio of development time to instructional time output/delivered but the quality can be affected if less development time is used than needed .
